12 month summary Jan – Dec. 2011
Summary of types of people assisted by Papillon:
The needy, poor, previously disadvantaged, elderly, sick, youth, children, disabled adults, special needs children, orphans, child-headed households, unemployed, low-income earners, part-time workers and local community residents wanting to improve their situations.
Charity
Distribution 31 tons of donated goods have been distributed from Jan – Dec 2011
- 60 Computers given to technical refurbishment project at Forest Town School for special needs children.
- Furniture from Nedbank to various N.G.O’s
- Soap products to various N.G.O’s and needy community members
- Clothing, toys, books to N.G.O’s and Community Outreach Projects
- Beds (Single, bunk and mattresses) to Orange Farm
- 1000 Easter Eggs distributed to needy children in South and Elderly in North
- 20 beds and linen to a Children’s Home in Newlands, Johannesbuirg.
- 262 blankets to needy children and destitute persons in Orange Farm, Carltonville and
surrounding areas in South of JHB
- Beds, mattresses, toys, cupboards and bedding to destitute family in Randfontein
- Clothing, bedding, pillows, toys and crockery to homes in Carltonville
- Crockery to N.G.O’s and needy community members (new mugs and plates)
- Furniture and goods to “Meals on Wheels” for the elderly and destitute
Aids Homes:
- 10 Hospital beds donated to a home
Old-Age Homes:
- Tea at Eventide Home and forms with activities were handed out / organized for Kiln delivery to Eventide (Kiln was donated to Eventide by individual person but Eventide didn’t have transport so Papillon got Richard to fetch and deliver it)
Children: MANDELA DAY ACTIVITIES
- A very large Madiba Birthday Cake was given to Papillon to donate to a worthy children’s cause. Said cake was donated to one of the Rosebank Union’s Alex Projects.
- Papillon also arranged a list of organisations that is to be supported by Sasfin Bank.
Christmas gifts were arranged for 265 orphans from Nedbank and Lions.
Churches
- Free carpets, Furniture and Air Conditioners supplied to a worthy cause.

1. E-LEARNER. Basic Computer Training (ICDL Foundational Course)
- 172 needy community members graduated (Jan – July 2011)
- The Training has been moved up onto our new Mezzanine floor
- Courses have been upgraded to the 2007 Software
2. ICDL (International Computer Driving Licence) Core Programme
- 187 students this year (new registrations & Exam students) – Internal and External students
- Papillon has changed to a new testing system (Oct) (K-Place Automatic testing system)
- Papillon has upgraded to the 2007 software
3. ENGLISH (Partnered by Wits University Language School)
- 451 Foreign learners Jan – Dec 2011
- We run levels 1, 2, 3 (and the classes are full without advertising)
- Papillon also continues to provide students to Wits for Wits’ own T.E.S.L Teachers Training course.
4. PROJECT MANAGEMENT (Partnered by TIS Holdings)
- 54 Project Management Framework Group 1 (May – Dec 2011)
- TIS Holdings do the lectures, supply the manuals and do the testing and certification, accredited through the Services SETA.
- Papillon brings in the students, organizes the logistics and infrastructure and does all the relevant administration and refreshments.
5. MAR (Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher)
- 251 Donated Computers refurbished and placed in 2011(Jan-Dec)
- New Centre: Hammanskraal (Khulisa) (offering E-learner)
- 54 refurbished and placed at new Cape Town Project
- 100 Laptops refurbished and loaded for Nedbank’s Rural Projects
- 11 computers refurbished and placed at The Clothing Bank (Cape Town)
- 12 computers refurbished and loaded for Khulisa’s Hammanskraal Computer Project
- 6 computers checked and loaded for Boys and Girl’s Clubs SA
- 61 computers donated to technical refurb project at Forest Town special needs school.
